As always, there's plenty of activity on the Forum.

Shotover wants to combine United and Delta miles. Dave discovered a new search engine for airline flights and fares (and Jean knows exactly what it is). Mark has a strategy for cost-effectively earning 12K bonus miles through Diners. Allan has questions about the Northwest 10K promotion. Kel wants to buy airline miles for $0.01 - $0.015 each. (Don't we all!) And much more...

More Info On AA-TWA Program Integration
====================================================

The long wait for a definitive announcement is over: the TWA Aviators program will be terminated as of midnight, Nov. 30, 2001.

Here's the official notice regarding the conversion of Aviators miles into AAdvantage miles:

"As of November 30, 2001, you will be eligible to receive a mileage bonus in your new or existing AAdvantage account equal to the unused ending mileage balance in your Aviators portfolio. You also will have an opportunity to register your existing AAdvantage account or to enroll in the AAdvantage program. Details on how to register an account will be provided soon."

Also new and interesting is the policy statement regarding the handling of Aviators elite members:

"If you currently are both an Aviators privilege card member and an AAdvantage member and you enjoy a higher membership level in the Aviators program, your AAdvantage membership will be elevated by the end of June to match your Aviators membership. If you are an Aviators privilege card member, but not an AAdvantage member, you will be enrolled as an AAdvantage member at a level that corresponds to your current Aviators membership. (See the questions/answers in the enclosed Aviators Newsletter.) This also will be done before the end of June. These elite-status memberships will be valid until February 28, 2002."

The link below is to TWA's website, which includes more information on Aviators.

Strike Threat Looms at American
======================================

American Air flight attendants have rejected arbitration in their dispute with the airline's management, starting the clock running on the federally mandated 30-day cooling-off period. Thereafter, the attendants would in theory be free to strike.

However, President Bush would almost certainly appoint an emergency review board (as he did with the Northwest mechanics), pushing the earliest possible strike date out an additional 60 days, until Labor Day.

Airport Food Is (Surprise!)... Junk
====================================

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) has rated the nation's 10 busiest airports on the availability of healthy food choices (by which they mean low-fat, high-fiber, cholesterol-free meals).

San Francisco International Airport scored highest, with 96% of its restaurants offering healthy meals, while Detroit's airport scored the lowest, with 33% of its restaurants serving nutritious fare. Here are the results, showing the number of airport restaurants, and the percentage of them offering healthy food:

  San Francisco Int'l Airport        96%; 24 out of 25
  Minn.-St. Paul Int'l Airport       66%; 27 out of 41
  Chicago-O'Hare Int'l Airport       64%; 18 out of 28
  Denver Int'l Airport               61%; 14 out of 23
  Los Angeles Int'l Airport          60%; 21 out of 35
  Phoenix Int'l Airport              58%; 25 out of 43
  Dallas-Fort Worth Int'l            50%; 28 out of 56
  Las Vegas Int'l Airport            45%; 13 out of 29
  Atlanta Int'l Airport              40%; 17 out of 42
  Detroit Metro Airport 33%; 9 out of 27
