Judging by the airlines’ frantic efforts to stimulate demand, air traffic to London fell off a cliff following this summer’s Olympics. United is just the latest to weigh in with a generous bonus for London flights in first, business, and full-fare coach. Offer DetailsBetween October 4, 2012, and January 31, 2013, MileagePlus members can earn up to 100,000 bonus miles for three United flights between the U.S. and London Heathrow, as follows:
So three rountrips net 100,000 bonus miles. The bonuses only apply to roundtrips in United first, BusinessFirst, and full-fare coach (F, A, J, C, D, Z, P, Y and B booking classes). There’s no limit to the number of bonus miles that may be earned with this offer. Registration is required.
Deal or No Deal
United’s offer is a response to comparable offers from American, British Airways, Iberia, and Delta. So if you meet the qualifying criteria, you have your choice of miles from American, Delta, or United.
For business travelers flying on unrestricted fares, these bonuses are no-brainers. In fact, if you’re traveling to other points in Europe, it might behoove you to fly via London to earn the extra miles. And even if you’re on a budget, it’s worth a look to compare your fare with the lowest available bonus-eligible fare.
