Through the end of this year, Hyatt is offering Gold Passport members gift cards for 10 percent less than their face value.
To take advantage of the discount, members must enter promotion code GPGIFT when making card purchases.
The cards are offered in denominations from $25 to $500, and there’s a limit of $2,000 in gift cards that may be purchased by each Gold Passport member. They can be used to pay for Hyatt stays in the U.S., Canada, and Caribbean.
The minimum shipping charge is $6.00, for FedEx Express Saver.
Savvy shoppers can squeeze additional value from gift card purchases through the strategic use of credit or charge cards.
For example, if the cards are purchased using one of the American Express OPEN cards (Business Platinum, Business Gold Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest for Business), there’s a 5 percent rebate on Hyatt purchases. Plus there are Membership Rewards points to be earned by charging the purchase to the Starwood card.
Purchases made with the gift cards do not earn Gold Passport points.
Another caveat: “Not all of Hyatt’s Gift Cards & Certificates are redeemable at all Hyatt locations. Be sure to check the list of Participating Locations before purchasing.”
