IHG Rewards (formerly Priority Club Rewards) has released its latest list of PointBreaks hotels available for booking for just 5,000 points per night through July 31, 2014.
Beginning on May 27, IHG Rewards members can book award nights for 5,000 points at 159 participating hotels for stays through July 31.
The new list includes 114 hotels in the U.S., 15 in the rest of the Americas, 22 in Europe, five in Asia and Oceania, and three in the Middle East and Africa.
For this iteration of their PointBreaks offering, IHG has imposed two new terms:
Due to the limited availability, each member may only book two PointBreaks Reward Nights reservations per hotel during the special offer time period.
Please note that Reward Nights booked through PointBreaks may not be sold or used for commercial gains. Doing so is a program violation and may result in the freezing of your account, the forfeiture of all point transfers, rewards, vouchers, or merchandise issued pursuant to point redemptions and any accrued points or miles in your account, as well as cancellation of the account and your future participation in the Program.
Deal or No Deal
With normal award prices beginning at 10,000 points per night, the PointBreaks rates represent a discount of at least 50 percent. The value proposition is unarguably a compelling one.
The question with PointBreaks, always, is whether any of the discounted hotels work for you. As far as sheer numbers go, the current list of 159 participating properties is a slight improvement over the previous quarter’s 151, but it’s a considerable downgrade from the roster of several quarters ago, which included 210 hotels, including 142 in the U.S. alone. And for the first time in recent memory, there are no InterContinentals on the new list. It is, in short, a mixed bag.
Bottom line: Whether it’s long or short, the list is always worth perusing. There just might be a hotel that fits into your existing travel plans, or that could be the centerpiece of an opportunistic trip.
As always, room nights available at the PointBreaks rate are limited, so act quickly to lock in a deal that works for you.
