When Hyatt announced its mileage promotion for stays through August, it included triple airline miles in eight participating programs, for the second and subsequent stays, up to 15 stays.
Missing from the list of airline programs was Southwest’s Rapid Rewards. It’s missing no more: Hyatt Gold Passport members can earn triple points for the second and subsequent stays at participating Park Hyatt, Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, and Hyatt Residence Club hotels, through August 31. That means 1,200 bonus points in addition to the 600 base points earned per stay, up to a maximum of 9,000 base Rapid Rewards points and 16,800 bonus points.
The participating programs, and links to the registration pages, are as follows:
Deal or No Deal
Gold Passport members normally earn 500 miles per stay, or 600 points in Southwest’s case. With the bonus, that increases to 1,500 miles per stay, or 1,800 points for Southwest.
That’s a decent bonus, especially if the qualifying stays are short and cheap. The four-month promotion period is another plus.
Apparently Hyatt will not offer a systemwide Gold Passport points bonus, although many Gold Passport members have received targeted points offers for stays through July 31 (mine was for 1,000 points for the first eligible stay). If you’re a points collector, versus an airline-miles collector, it might be worth calling Hyatt and requesting a points offer.
