Members of Southwest’s Rapid Rewards program can now earn points for stays at Carlson Rezidor hotels, including Radisson Blu, Radisson, and Country Inns & Suites.
As is typical of such new partner introductions, there’s a limited-time bonus to promote the tie-up.
Offer Details
Between January 18 and March 31, Rapid Rewards members can earn double points for stays with Sunday through Thursday check-ins at participating U.S. Carlson hotels.
The promotion does not apply to stays at Park Plaza or Park Inn hotels.
Deal or No Deal
The normal earning rate is 600 points per stay. So with the bonus, it will be 1,200.
The weekday check-in requirement is likely to preclude use of the promotion by many leisure travelers. Excluding Park Plaza and Park Inn hotels is another negative.
This is not one the more lucrative winter hotel bonuses. In particular, Carlson’s own promotion features triple Club Carlson points through March 15, with no day-of-the-week restrictions.
Note to Southwest’s marketing team: The restriction to stays with Sunday-through-Thursday check-ins is buried in the fine print where it is likely to be overlooked. It should be mentioned prominently in the promotional copy.
