Members of Southwest’s Rapid Rewards program can earn 5,000 bonus points — 2,500 points each way — for qualifying round-trip AirTran flights between June 1 and August 31.
Bonus-eligible routes:
- Between Aruba and Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, or Orlando
- Between Bermuda and Atlanta or Baltimore/Washington
- Between Cancun and Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore/Washington, Chicago (Midway), Denver, Milwaukee, or San Antonio
- Between Los Cabos and Orange County
- Between Mexico City and Orange County or San Antonio
- Between Montego Bay and Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, or Orlando
- Between Nassau and Atlanta or Baltimore/Washington
- Between Punta Cana and Atlanta
- Between San Juan and Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, or Tampa
Qualifying flights must be booked on airtran.com.
Although the bonus is Rapid Rewards points, you must also be a member of AirTran’s A+ Rewards program to earn them, so be sure to sign up before flying. You’ll earn the normal A+ credits plus the bonus Rapid Rewards points.
Registration is required.
Deal or No Deal
These are solid bonuses, on some attractive routes.
Earning base miles in one program and the bonus in another is odd, probably owing to limited connectivity between the two airlines’ systems. But eventually the Southwest and AirTran programs will be merged, so the two loyalty currencies will ultimately be one anyway.
