Between its own mileage bonuses for Seattle flights (to fight off Delta’s incursions into its hometown market) and the bonuses for British Airways flights, Alaska Airlines has been on a promotional tear lately.
The latest: bonus miles for Emirates flights.
Between April 21 and November 30, Mileage Plan members can earn double miles for non-stop Emirates flights between Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, New York-JFK, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington D.C. and Dubai, and for onward connecting flights from Dubai.
Registration is required, by June 15.
There’s also a discount — 10 percent for first and business, 5 percent for coach — on offer for the same flights. To take advantage of the discount, use promotion code USALK14 when booking.
Deal or No Deal
Emirates is a frequent-flyer partner in three U.S. airline programs: Alaska’s, JetBlue’s, and Virgin America’s. But this Alaska Mileage Plan double miles promotion is the only bonus currently on offer for members of one of the U.S.-carrier programs. So for Americans flying Emirates during the promotion period, opting to earn Alaska miles will probably deliver the best value. The discount helps, as well.
