Beginning “early next year,” members of Alaska’s Mileage Plan program will be able to earn miles when flying on Aeromexico, and members of Aeromexico’s Club Premier will be able to earn miles on Alaska flights.
Miles earned on Aeromexico will count toward elite status in Mileage Plan.
Reciprocal redemption will be in place “later in 2103.”
Complementing the frequent-flyer program tie-up will be code sharing between the two carriers on selected routes.
For an airline of such modest size, Alaska’s mileage program features an impressive list of airline partners, including Air France, Air Pacific, American, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Delta, Emirates, Era Alaska, Icelandair, Kenmore Air, KLM, Korean Air, LAN, PenAir, and Qantas.
With the two carriers’ overlapping Mexico routes, Aeromexico is a smart addition to the list.
