Book PointBreaks Stays for Just 5,000 Points a Night

IHG Rewards (formerly Priority Club Rewards) has released its latest list of PointBreaks hotels available for booking for just 5,000 points per night through May 31, 2014.

Offer Details

Beginning on March 24, IHG Rewards members can book award nights for 5,000 points at 151 participating hotels for stays through May 31.

The new list includes 88 hotels in the U.S., 23 in the rest of the Americas, 27 in Europe, 10 in Asia and Oceania, and three in the Middle East and Africa.

Deal or No Deal

With normal award prices beginning at 10,000 points per night, the PointBreaks rates represent a discount of at least 50 percent. The value proposition is unarguably a compelling one.

The question with PointBreaks, always, is whether any of the discounted hotels work for you. As far as sheer numbers go, the current list of 151 participating properties is a slight improvement over the previous quarter’s 140, but it’s a considerable downgrade from the roster of two quarters ago, which included 210 hotels, including 142 in the U.S. alone. There are five InterContinentals on the new list, although the only one in the U.S. is in Cleveland. It is, in short, a mixed bag.

Bottom line: Whether it’s long or short, the list is always worth perusing. There might be a hotel that fits into your existing travel plans, or that could be the centerpiece of an opportunistic trip.

As always, room nights available at the PointBreaks rate are limited, so act quickly to lock in a deal that works for you.
